The 830s BC – Fan of History podcast ep 27

Shalmaneser takes the Assyrian royal army to entirely new places, beating up old enemies that thought they were at a safe distance.

With the League of Kings gone and Syria pacified, Shalmaneser III of Assyria moves into Anatolia, extending the border of the Neo-Assyrian Empire further than his father ever did. The small state of Que refuses to fall and fights back with great success.

The situation in Egypt gets even more confusing while the Phoenicians intensify their colonization efforts just to be able to pay their Assyrians overlords.
